As IFA is just around the corner, we’re seeing increased chatter about what’s to be announced. It seems that we can firmly remove Sony’s Xperia Z3 Compact from the rumour file, though, and move it firmly across to fact.
Ausdroid has obtained access to press shots of the Z3 Compact, shown here for your enjoyment:
The press photos don’t confirm any specs, so at the moment we’re stuck with what’s been rumoured from earlier leaks; a 4.5″ display running at 720p, a 2.5 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 processor and 2GB of on-board RAM. As Sony is well known for its optics, the Z3 Compact is likely to feature a fairly spectacular camera as well.
The colour choices seem to be white, black, mint and red orange, and it will be interesting to see which of this colour range makes it to Australia. Hopefully this time the Z3 Compact will be a bit more widely available; those of you who recall the Z1 Compact might also recall it was a Telstra exclusive, which probably kept it out of a few hands at least.
I have to say I find this to be a pretty good looking phone; nice compact size, bright colours, and of course Sony’s well-known power inside the frame.
Update, 1.30pm A source familiar with the specifications of the Xperia Z3 Compact has come forward with some more detail. We’re expecting to see Sony’s now-familiar 20.7MP camera make a return, but this time it’ll be connected to a Snapdragon 801 at 2.5Ghz with a 2600 mAh battery behind a 4.6-inch 720p display.
Interestingly, it’s also claimed that the Z3 Compact will use a Nano SIM (the original used a Micro SIM). Our source also confirms White, Black, Orange and Green colours although availability by region still isn’t known.
