Motorola is set to reveal a new line of products later today at a private event in Chicago. Before that event though, Brazilian retailer Lojas Colombo prematurely posted (and quickly pulled) a YouTube video showing off the new Moto G or Moto G2.
From the video, the Moto G2 looks a lot like the original Moto G and the description from the video page was captured – and poorly translated – as follows:
The G2 Moto DTV Colors is the new smartphone from Motorola that came to complete your day to day, with technology, ease and style. With Quad-Core Processor and Android 4.4, you access to thousands of applications with optimal performance. The 8-megapixel camera with LED Flash will record all moments with much more quality. And yet, the Moto G2 offers Digital TV HD on a 5 inch screen. In addition, Motorola has the Assist service, you know when you can not be interrupted, such as during your sleep or a meeting. So, you can schedule actions and exceptions so that it behaves the way you want. The Moto G Second Generation is the best partner for you to get organized and stay connected.
The device shown in the video – model XT1069 – features a digital TV tuner and dual SIMs, so it’s perhaps destined for the Brazilian market. The Moto G2’s screen is 5 inches (up from 4.5 inches on the original Moto G) at 720P – or possibly 1080P. There’s dual front-facing speakers, 16GB storage and a quad-core Snapdragon processor. We’re also expecting the coloured shells to make a return.
This version of the Moto G2 is 3G-only, and runs Android KitKat 4.4. It isn’t clear yet whether there will be a 4G LTE version at launch, or if it will come later down the track as we saw with the recent introduction of the Moto G 4G in Australia. We’ll have to wait for the official launch for more details.
