Announced back at IFA in September, and released in a number of markets around the world already, the Sony Smartband Talk and Smartwatch 3 are now officially available in Australia.
Of course Ausdroid readers would already know that the Smartband Talk has been available to order from the Sony Australia website since the weekend for $199. Sony also priced the Android Wear running Smartwatch 3 on the weekend as well, but until today, the watch has remained on ‘Coming Soon’ status. That’s now changed with orders being accepted and sent out with no delivery charge.
The Smartwatch 3 is available in Black, though we heard from Sony at the Z3 launch that a metal band version will be coming next year. The Smartband talk is available in Black also, but will have a Pink band coming in January, with other colour options such as pink, lime, blue and orange coming soon.
Both the Smartwatch 3 and Smartband Talk are available from Sony Centres, Sony Kiosks and Sony Store Online. Sony has also partnered with Telstra to sell the Smartwatch 3, Smartband Talk and the original Smart Band. The original Smartband is also available from Dick Smith Electronics and Harvey Norman for $99. If you’re interested in one of the bands through Telstra you can expect to pay :
- Smartband Talk: $5/mth plus $79 upfront on Accessory Repayment Option for 24 months (Minimum cost $199) when you connect to a Mobile Accelerate Plan or $199 RRP outright.
- Smartwatch 3: $10/mth plus $59 upfront on Accessory Repayment Option for 24 months (Minimum cost $299) when you connect to a Mobile Accelerate Plan or $299 RRP outright.
- Smartband: Outright purchase only $99
This makes great timing for Christmas shopping. Chris has already compared the Moto 360 to the Smartwatch 3 and found a clear winner, but stay tuned for his full review. We’re keen to get some clarification from Sony on a few details of the Smartwatch 3 and we’ll be following these up in short order.
