Samsung has apparently been making moves to update their tablet line-up with a new series called the Galaxy A and Galaxy A Plus. SamMobile has received some information regarding the specs of the tablets, and from the sounds of it, these will be classed as mid-range tablets.

There will apparently be two variants of the Tab A and Tab A Plus based on screen size: 8″ and 9.7″. The tablets will mostly share similar specs across the screen sizes, with the 8″ tablets receiving a 1.2GHz Quad Core Snapdragon 410 processor, while the 9.7″ tablets will receive a 1.2GHz Qualcomm APQ8016 processor. The 8″ tablets will have a screen resolution of 1024×768, but the resolution hasn’t been listed for the 9.7″ tablets.

Both tablets will come with 5MP Rear Camera and 2MP Front-Facing cameras and come with 16GB of internal storage. The 8″ tablets will have a 4,200 mAh battery, while the 9.7″ tablets will get a 6,000 mAh battery. The Tab A and Tab A Plus will be thin, not quite as thin as their Tab S cousins, but at 7.4mm, they’ll be no fatties.

There will be differences between the Galaxy Tab A and the Galaxy Tab A Plus tablets, with the Tab A receiving 1.5GB RAM, while the Tab A Plus will get 2GB. The extra memory may be for extra features with the Tab A Plus also coming with an S Pen, that’s right, the first non-Note series tablet with an actual S Pen.

As usual with the Samsung range there will be LTE and Wi-Fi variants, but availability will be based on region. Pricing and launch dates haven’t surfaced as yet, but with all this apparently finalised, it shouldn’t be long.
