Samsung’s Galaxy A3 and A5 are launching in Australia on March 5

We’d been tipped off on their imminent arrival, but today Samsung’s made it official – the Galaxy A3 and Galaxy A5 will be launching in Australia from March 5.

Both phones have an attractive, slim, full-metal unibody design coming in under 7mm with SuperAMOLED screens, 5MP front-facing cameras, 1.2 Ghz quad core processors, and Android KitKat. There are also some neat safety features built-in – you can send pictures, pre-recorded messages and location to preset VIPs and use a “Find my mobile” service to locate lost devices.

The differences between the A3 and A5 comes down to screen size (4.5″ qHD vs 5″ HD), RAM (1.5 vs 2GB), rear camera specs (8MP vs 13MP) and battery capacity (1900 vs 2300mAh).

If Samsung pitched the Galaxy Alpha too high on price, the A3 and A5 seem to get it right with $499 and $599 respective price tags. Both phones should be available at retailers, but you’ll also find the A3 at Telstra, Vodafone and Optus while Vodafone’s getting the A5. Colour choices are limited to black/white, but they’re both pretty reliable for retailers.
