HTC will be releasing the HTC One M9 in Australia next week, and they’re readying for the launch. The phone will come with a new range of apps as well as accessories, and in keeping with recent efforts to separate apps out from their ROM to Google Play, they’ve released a bunch of apps to Google Play ahead of the launch.
There’s a bunch of basic apps including the HTC Tasks app which will ship with the HTC One M9. The Tasks app is a to-do list app which can also track due dates for items. The app syncs with both Google accounts and Microsoft Exchange ActiveSync and all your tasks will show up in your HTC Calendar as well. The app functions include :
- Create new tasks and to-do lists
- Sync tasks from multiple accounts
- Search your tasks and lists

Also appearing, or at least getting updated is HTC Connect, the app which will be your gateway to streaming wireless audio. HTC Connect will send your audio, using a three finger swipe gesture to a range of compatible speakers from the likes of JBL, Yamaha, Harman/Kardon.
While you can’t use AirPlay or Google Cast enabled speakers, there’s a fair few protocols being supported including Qualcomms AllPlay, DLNA, Miracast, Blackfire as well as good old Bluetooth.

Finally you’ll find the HTC Dot View apps have been updated with a number of fun new funtions and even a game. HTC has updated the Dot View case to ‘Dot View 2′, while the name has changed, the case hasn’t really, except for a lovely clear back that lets you show off the bespoke design of the HTC One M9 rather than hiding it away in a plastic cover.
The apps are HTC Dot Breaker – a fun breakout style game, and HTC Dot Design which lets you create a number of designs on the Dot View case – at a base level it’s paint for Dot View. Both are quite fun and something to show off how cool that Dot View case can be.
