As rumours of a Samsung Galaxy Tab S update continue, the existing Tab S 10.5 is apparently finally receiving its long-awaited update to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

We’ve received a number of reports from owners of the tablet that they’re receiving notifications to download and install a 916MB update to Lollipop, which includes all the goodies of Material Design, including security features such as Smart Lock, heads-up notifications (love them or hate them), as well as a new multi-tasking UI.

Owners reporting the update prompt have so far been talking about outright retail units, with Peter who supplied the above screenshot advising he purchased his tablet from JB Hifi. Telstra are the only carrier so far to acknowledge the update for the Tab S, advising on their software update site that it’s being scheduled for July 28th. While Vodafone and Optus both sell the tablet, neither mention it on their respective update sites.

To check to see if an update is available for your Tab S, go to Settings > System Updates > Update Now. There’s no word on whether the Tab S 8.4 is receiving its Lollipop update, but if not it’s probably not too far off.
