Following on from rumours begun by the Wall Street Journal, further rumours are surfacing that the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ will launch on August 12th, with the handset set to go on-sale in August soon after.

According to both SamMobile and Digitimes, the launch will take place on the 12th of August. When the handset will go on-sale however differs, with SamMobile suggesting the handset will be available for sale with carriers on August 21st, while Digitimes theorise it will launch on carriers, at least in Taiwan (though they also say in Major Markets) on August 14th.

According to SamMobile, both handsets will arrive in the US with Samsung Pay, though nothing is said about this expanding to other markets.

The Galaxy Note 5 is rumoured to be launching with an Exynos 7422 processor and 4GB of RAM under the hood, while the S6 Edge+ will use the Exynos 7420 with 3GB of RAM.

There’s still a chance that Samsung will continue on their usual path and announce the Note 5 at IFA, though logically the early launch would give them a leg up in the sales stakes when attempting to get ahead of the Apple sales juggernaut. We hope to see some invites for the Samsung Unpacked event going out soon.
