Owners of Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S 8.4 can expect a firmware update for their tablet to Android 5.0.2 soon.
The update, which is slowly beginning to trickle out to user both via Kies and OTA, brings the first version of the Galaxy Tab S to Lollipop, but not the latest 5.1.1 release, nor to Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The update is 938MB and according to the log requires up to 3GB of available memory to install. Furthermore the update brings along with it:
- Multi-Window capability
- “Quick Settings” updated
- Additional animations
- Improved notifications
- Device Protection
- Stagefright security update
The update to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop is certainly overdue, given other markets have had the update pushed through back in early June. Though as they say, better late than never.
As stated the update has only begun rolling out and if your a little impatient you can try to hook your Tab S to Kies and see if the update is available that way, otherwise you can go to SamMobile via this link to download the ZIP file for the update. Do bear in mind, this update is for the Galaxy TabS 8.4 LTE, model number SM-T705Y and not for other Galaxy TabS tablets at this stage.
