We’ve had reports overnight that users of Samsung’s Galaxy S6 Edge+ on Optus, and unlocked Galaxy Note 5 users, are receiving updates to Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow this weekend. If you’re not yet receiving updates on these devices, it’s time to head into Settings -> About and check for any updates, you might just be lucky with a tasty update to Android 6.0 therein.
Optus’ latest update entry (from 18 April) mentions that the Marshmallow update for Galaxy S6 Edge+ was expected by end of April, so the timeframe fits. Optus haven’t made any mention of Note 5 updates for its branded handsets. Optus don’t have any other Android M updates pending.
As at the end of last week, 28 April, Vodafone advises that Android M is in testing for both devices, though it appears there are some issues preventing a rollout from commencing soon. Updates for Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge are also being reviewed. Vodafone also have updates in the wings for Sony’s Xperia Z2, Z3 and Z5, but there appear to be issues in testing.
We’re expecting an update from Telstra on Monday, but as of last week, they’ve advised that Android 6.0 Marshmallow updates are around the corner for HTC One M8 and One M9, and there are updates in testing for Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge. These latter updates should be available mid May. Sony’s Xperia Z5 range has been held back due to some issues with emergency dialling features.
