The launch of Google Home in Australia has seen a flurry of activity at retailers judging from our brief trips past. While you’re there you may want to look into getting some smart home equipment like the D-Link Smart plugs which now support Google Assistant.

D-Link ANZ has announced that the Mydlink Wi-Fi Smart Plug (DSP-W215) is now compatible with the Google Assistant on Google Home. You can use your voice to control the D-link Smart Plugs using Ok Google to turn the switches on and off. This means you can have your Iron plugged in and you can remotely make sure you turned it off if you’re away from home – personally, in this cold weather I use a smart switch to turn my electric blanket on remotely.

To setup your D-Link Smart Plug, you’ll need to go into the Google Home app, select Home Control and connect the smart plug – D-Link is an option under there. D-link will be updating more of their smart mydlink products to work with Google Assistant, so it may be worthwhile looking at the rest of the range.

The D-Link Smart Plug is priced at RRP$49.95 and can be purchased from the D-Link website, or from a number of retailers. The best value at the moment is at JB Hifi where you’ll find them reduced to just $34.30 for a limited time.
