In the announcement of the Foxtel Now Android TV box today, an interesting tidbit turned up with Network Ten updating their Tenplay app with support for the platform as well.
The Tenplay app on Google Play is now allowing installs to Android TV devices including the range of Sony Bravia TVs and of course the Asus Nexus Player.
The app itself is built with the leanback launcher experience and works quite well, though it’s rudimentary. There’s no personalisation support for adding lists of favourite shows or queuing episodes for later viewing. The app is simple, but it works. The app offers the usual search option at the top of the page to simply find your favourite show airing on Network 10, or you can scroll through the long list of categories available.
Network Ten has split their content into multiple categories with a featured box at the top to display the Popular category of shows, or you can scroll down through multiple categories including Reality, Drama, Comedy, Lifestyle, Entertainment, News, Kids, Sports, Documentary and Featured.
There is a slide-out Nav Drawer accessed with an arrow press to the left on your remote which brings up a menu to more quickly navigate through categories or hit the News. There’s Settings, but don’t expect too much there, with only four options: Terms of Use, Help, Privacy Policy and a Contact Us button. The Settings page also confirms this is V1.0 (593) of their Android TV app.
The app is available now, so if you want to check it out head over to Google Play on the web – or on your Android TV box/set and install it now.
