Sony looks set to join the ranks of manufacturers producing bezel-less smartphones next year with their upcoming Xperia smartphone model H8541. The specs for the phone have shown up and it’s looking quite impressive.
The phone will continue the Sony flagship tradition of incorporating 4K resolution HDR displays, though this time it’s rumoured to be bezel-less. At 5.7″ it’s going to be large, though with minimal or no bezels those large displays fit into very small bodies. According to the leak, the phone will have plenty of power in that body too:
It’s a little blurry, so for clarity, the spec list includes includes:
- 5.7″ 4K HDR Triluminos Display with Corning Gorilla Glass 5
- Snapdragon 835
- 4GB RAM
- 64GB UFS onboard storage
- Bluetooth 5.0
- Miracast support
- GPS with GLONASS support
- NFC
- USB 3.1, Type-C connector
- IP65/68 dust/water resistance
- 3420mAh battery with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0
- 149 x 74 x 7.5 mm
The use of a Snapdragon 835 is expected due to the rumour that the phone will be announced at Mobile World Congress and that Samsung has snapped up initial stocks of the Snapdragon 845 processor, meaning other manufacturers won’t be due to release phones with the SD845 until around May/June.
Though no information has been announced on the cameras for the H8541, it’s possible we may see Sony’s next-gen Super SlowMo camera technology announced earlier this year that will offer 1000fps @ 1080p resolution, a step up from their 960fps @ 720p resolution launched with the Xperia XZ Premium.
Rumour suggests that we’ll see this at Mobile World Congress and we’re hoping to be there for the launch to go hands on with anything they have to announce.
