Armed with the world’s best mobile OS, Nokia has proven in the past year that they can once again produce a top notch phone. Now the pressure is on them to follow it up with some more great phones.

One of their more successful phones in 2017 was the Nokia 6, and the 2018 version of the Nokia 6 has just passed through TENAA (think the Chinese equivalent of the FCC), which has revealed many of the specs of the phone.

HMD submitted the Nokia 6 (2018) to the TENAA with the model number TA-1054 and it appears to be a similar design to this year’s model. The phone will once again have a 16:9 display, bucking the trend of 18:9 displays and the display is 5.5 inches in size with a 1080p resolution.

The Nokia 6 (2018) dimensions are 148.8×75.8×8.15mm making it slightly thicker than this year’s model but smaller in all other dimensions and as such will have a higher screen to body ratio.

The chipset inside is an octacore processor with its frequencies matching that of a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 and 660, both decent processors capable of some high end operation. The processor will be accompanied with 4GB of RAM and either 32 or 64GB of onboard storage (with the possibility of increasing storage with a microSD slot) and a 3000mAh battery.

There will be a single 16MP rear camera and an 8MP front facing camera and the phone will be available in white, black and blue colours.

At this stage the phone is running Android 7.1.1 but with Nokia’s version of near-pure Android and their track record of providing timely updates we expect it to either launch with Oreo or be updated to not long after.

All in all it sounds like another great mid-range device from Nokia and after their success this year we can’t wait to see what they bring in 2018.
