Sony has only just released the Xperia XZ2 and XZ2 Compact in Australia, but already the leaks are starting for the next generation of the phone with specs and in the wild shots of the XZ3 leaking out.
The specs for the Xperia XZ3 leaked last week when a picture of a spec sheet showed up at sumahoinfo. The specs are iterative to the already released Xperia XZ2, with a 5.7″ Full HD+ (2160×1080) resolution IPS display, Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor, 6GB of RAM and options for either 64GB or 128GB of storage and microSD card support up to 400GB available.
The phone will also have a slightly larger 3,240mAh battery, with support for Quick Charge 3.0 which will be via a USB-C port.
The phone will move from a single rear 19MP sensor to a dual sensor array with a 19MP RGB sensor behind an f/1.8 aperture – an improvement on the f/2.0 of the XZ2, as well as a 13MP monochrome unit.
If specs aren’t juicy enough for you a leak of picture of a prototype of the phone, also from Sumahoinfo show that Sony will continue with their new design language launched with the Xperia XZ2 including the 18:9 aspect ratio screen and curved rear. The major change on the rear is of course the dual camera sensor setup with a fingerprint sensor shown just below.
Sony has been quite constant about announcing new Xperia phones at IFA in September, so it’s possible we’ll see the Xperia XZ3 officially unveiled then.
