After announcing the Beta Labs test of Pie for the Nokia 8 earlier this month, the wait is finally over with the official release now rolling out to handsets.

The update was announced, as usual, by head of product for HMD Global, Juho Sarvikas, on Twitter:

The Nokia 8 Pie update was delayed for a fair amount of time ahead of the Beta Labs inclusion, but it’s far from the only Nokia branded phone waiting for the update. HMD Global has still not delivered the update for several of their lower end devices including the Nokia 3, Nokia 5 and Nokia 6. The Nokia 6 update appears to be the next phone in line to be updated with a Beta update leaking over on XDA-Developers yesterday.

Priced at just $699, the Nokia 8 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of on-board storage behind a 5.5″ QHD resolution Plastic OLED display. It’s a heck of a phone for the price, and should also see an update to Android Q when it’s announced next year – we just hope it’s in a more timely manner.
