Samsung security updates wouldn’t normally be the subject of a news article, but the recent update for the Galaxy S9 and S9+ has brought Night Mode to the phone’s camera app.
The update follows on from the S10’s upgraded Night Mode released in mid-May. Rumour was that the S9 would receive a camera update as well, but it wasn’t confirmed until now.
Night Mode works similarly to the S9’s newer kin, albeit with a little less colour saturation and contrast. The actual light-capturing ability looks to be very much on-par with newer devices.
Another camera upgrade in the June update targets the front-facing lens. Focus and blur post-processing in Live Focus will be enabled for fancier selfies.
The Galaxy Note 9 will receive the Night Mode update, although a firm date is yet to be confirmed. Samsung is expected to push the update out to the Note 9 in the next few weeks.
Currently the June security update is available in south-east Asia, and will roll out to the rest of the world over the next week or so. Owners can check the Settings app for the update.
