Each year OPPO have gone from strength to strength with their smartphones and this year looks set to be another big step forward with the ultra-premium Find X2 Pro already setting the world alight with its near best-in-class camera and display. It has launched overseas a few week back but due to the current pandemic climate plans were pushed back. Fret not Australians, the Find X2 Pro is set to land on our shores in under two weeks time.

The 5G-enabled device will be available for purchase in Australia through “all major retailers” including JB Hi-Fi, Woolworths Mobile, Mobileciti, Catch of The Day, Kogan, OfficeWorks (online) and Bing Lee from June 9 for $1,599. At this stage the only carrier it is available for pre-order is at Optus where you will find it in the Ceramic Black only starting at $44.40 per month on a 36 months plan (thanks to the eagle-eyed readers below for spotting that for us). It will also eventually land at Telstra but is yet to appear on their website.

This year OPPO have included a display that has received many plaudits from pundits around the world for its colour accuracy and depth. The 120Hz, QHD+ 6.7-inch AMOLED display houses a punch hole for the selfie camera. The rear camera setup is a triple camera module with a 48MP Sony main lens, a 48MP ultrawide angled Sony lens and a 13MP periscopic telephoto lens which provides up to 10x hybrid zoom.

The results from the camera are impressive in the short time we had with it at launch and it seems camera aficionados DxOMark thought the same, giving it the third highest rating of all smartphone cameras (behind a Huawei and an Honor phone).

Powered by a Snapdragon 865 chipset, 12Gb of RAM and a whopping 512GB of storage it has all the specs you could need — including a 4,260mAh battery. Add in 65W superVOOC charging and it is seemingly a complete phone.

The OPPO Find X2 Pro will be available in Ceramic Black from Telstra and Optus and both Ceramic Black and Vegan Leather Orange colours from retail channels for $1,599 starting June 9. If you are interested in a 5G phone that looks great and takes great photos it could be one well worth checking out.

We will be reviewing one over the next week or so and hope to have the review ready for launch day. Stay tuned for that.
