With under a week until the Made By Google event, once again we know just about everything about the Pixel phones to be released. This time we even know what price the phones will be starting at but we don’t know the price of the main Pixel, the Pixel 5.

We already know that the Pixel 4a 5G will start at $799 according to the Google Store but we do not know where the Pixel 5 will sit in the price range. We do know that the US price for the Pixel 4a 5G starts at US$499. Now we have seen a rumour/leak suggestive of the US Pixel 5 pricing:

Of course allowing for Australia tax etc there is no direct line to the price but we can extrapolate the price differences in the US Pixel 4a 5G to the Australian Pixel 4a 5G to the Pixel 5 price.

Assuming the above leak is correct and the Pixel 5 5G does cost US$699 then that would mean the Australian Pixel 5 5G will set you back AU$1,150 — we rounded up to the nearest $50 because, well, Australia tax.

An interesting thought though is that Jon refers to the Pixel 5 as the Pixel 5 5G — does that mean we will see both a Pixel 5 (4G) and a Pixel 5 5G? This would mean that a Pixel 5 price would fall into the large gap between the Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5 5G. Am I reading too much into this? I dare say I am but it would explain the large difference in pricing from the Pixel 4a 5G and the Pixel 5 5G.

What do you think? Do you think/hope there is a Pixel 5 at a cheaper price than this “Pixel 5 5G”? Is AU$1,150 too much for what is ostensibly a mid-range smartphone?
