LG 360 VR Headset

We’ve had some hints at pricing for the LG G5 because the phone launches in the US in just over a week’s time on 1 April. While there’s absolutely no detail on when we might see LG bring the G5 to Australia, we are getting some more information on the pricing of the G5’s various friends accessories, including the LG 360 VR headset and 360 CAM.

B&H Photo have listed both devices for pre-order on their website, and both are priced at $199 US, leading to (our) speculation that the local pricing for Australia will be closer to the $299 mark.

Having had a good play with these devices over at MWC last month, I can definitely recommend the LG 360 VR goggles; they’re easier to use than Cardboard, because you don’t have to hold them on, and while Samsung’s Gear VR works the same way, it’s quite a bit heavier than the LG VR goggles, because the Samsung Gear VR requires a phone in the goggles to make it work. LG’s 360 VR goggles connect to the LG G5 (or compatible handset) via a cable, meaning the phone can stay on your desk or in your pocket, making for a much easier, more comfortable experience.

As for the LG 360 CAM, the possibilities there are virtually endless. You can create your own 360º content for your 3D goggles and share it on YouTube for others to see. Take it with you out and about, or capture family events and see everything that’s happening in the room. We can’t wait to play with these some more.

We should have information on Australian availability of these accessories, and the actual phone, soon.
