With CES now but a fond memory we are now looking forward to what some describe as the ‘Big’ event in mobile news: Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, where according to JK Shin the head of Samsung Mobile, the Galaxy Note 8 will make its debut.
Not a huge amount is known about the newest tablet in the Note line apart from the screen size that Mr Shin announced but rumours have the tablet shipping with Android 4.2 Jelly Bean, 1280 x 800 resolution on the 8″ display, 5 Megapixel Rear camera, and 1.3 Megapixel Front-Facing camera, it could also possibly be running a 1.6GHz Exynos Quad-Core Processor if the Note 8 turns out to be the GT-N5100 which was recently sighted being benchmarked on GLBenchmark.
At 8″ many see this as a shot at the iPad mini, where as I see it as a natural progression from the Galaxy Tab 7.7 which was a hugely popular form factor until the Nexus 7 appeared on the scene. The Galaxy Note 10.1 was heavily advertised at last years MWC but took until the later part of last year before actually making it to the retail market, we’ll have to wait until the Samsung event at MWC in late February to get any further details on the release of the Samsung Galaxy Note 8.
