Without ever reaching Australian shores, Google recently removed a number of Google Play Edition devices from the Play Store in the US. Thankfully, some of those devices are now available to purchase directly from Expansys Australia.
The prices may be a bit more expensive than buying them in the US but when you take the freight forwarder charges out it probably works out about the same if not a little cheaper:
Samsung Galaxy S4 LTE GPE $429.99 (– Update: It appears this has been removed by Expansys$691.35), Save 38%HTC One (M7) LTE GPE $429.99 (– Update: It appears this has been removed by Expansys$692.41), Save 38%- Sony Xperia Z Ultra LTE GPE $379.99 (
$694.12), Save 45% – Edit: Please note, this is the C6806 version which is not compatible with the 1800MHz LTE network in Australia. LTE bands included in the C6806 are : LTE 700/850/900/1700/1900/2100/2600 - LG G Pad 8.3 Wi-Fi GPE $239.99 (
$372.83), Save 36%
One note on the range of GPE devices on offer: The Sony Xperia Z Ultra LTE GPE is the only device that is in stock locally, whereas the other devices will be shipped from the USA, when you place your order.
These are all still very good devices that run pure vanilla Android for those out there that don’t like the bloatware that comes with some of the regular versions. All of these devices are unlocked and are quite a good buy if you don’t need to have the latest and greatest specs. If you’re in the market for a new device and you didn’t win one of the Ausdroid OnePlus One invitations you better get in quick as supplies are limited.
